We Are The:
Life Changers Hope Givers Skill Builders Dream Enablers

OUR TEAM

The Salesian Institute Youth Projects is only as strong as the people who show up every day to make it work. Behind every graduate, every qualification, every life changed, is a team of committed professionals who believe deeply in what Don Bosco started over 160 years ago.

They are educators, social workers, facilitators, administrators, and priests. Some live on the premises. All of them have chosen to dedicate their working lives to the young people of Cape Town.

This is who we are.

The Team Behind The Mission

Our Management Team

Meet the dedicated professionals who lead the Salesian Institute Youth Projects every day. Each one brings expertise, passion, and a deep personal commitment to the young people in our care. Together, they are the heartbeat of everything that happens at 2 Somerset Road.

(Chief Executive Officer)

Fr Francois leads the Salesian Institute Youth Projects with the conviction and compassion that Don Bosco’s mission demands. A Salesian priest at heart, he oversees all four programmes, the Wellness Centre, and the organisation’s strategic partnerships. Under his leadership, SIYP achieved full SETA accreditation, launched the Stitch Ahead programme, and celebrated Waves of Change’s 15th anniversary. He remains the driving force behind an organisation that changes lives every single day.

(Chief Financial Officer)

Denise is the financial backbone of the Salesian Institute Youth Projects, ensuring that every rand raised is managed with integrity, transparency, and purpose. She oversees the financial operations of an organisation, maintaining the accountability that our donors, partners, and beneficiaries deserve. Her work behind the scenes makes everything in front of it possible.

(Principal, Learn-to-Live School of Skills)

Carla leads the Learn-to-Live School of Skills, the only recognised independent school of skills for at-risk youth in the Western Cape. She joined SIYP as Principal in 2024, bringing fresh energy and deep commitment to a school that serves young people aged 14 to 18 who have been failed by mainstream education. Every day, she and her team create a space where those young people can finally thrive.

 (NEETs Youth Employability Programme Manager)

Gabriel manages the NEETs Youth Employability Programme, which in 2024 recorded its highest number of applicants and participants to date. He leads a team that combines Life Skills training, SETA-accredited vocational qualifications, and real workplace exposure to reintegrate young people aged 18 to 27 into education and employment. Under his management, the programme expanded to include a solar photovoltaic mounter course and achieved full SETA accreditation.

(Waves of Change Programme Manager)

Abraham manages the Waves of Change maritime programme, which celebrated its 15th anniversary in 2024. He leads a team that equips young people aged 18 to 35 from disadvantaged backgrounds with the skills and certifications needed for careers in the maritime industry. Under his management, the programme reached 382 participants, supported 5,784 youth through its dedicated Help Desk, and deepened a landmark partnership with MSC Cruise Lines.

(Fundraising Manager)

Jo builds and maintains the relationships that keep the Salesian Institute Youth Projects alive. She leads all fundraising efforts, from individual donor campaigns to corporate partnerships and government grant applications, ensuring that the funding needed to run four programmes, a school, and a wellness centre is secured year after year. Without her work, none of the rest of it happens.

Committed to:
Every Student Every Dream Every Graduate Every Future Every Life

Our team does not come to work. They come to serve. Guided by Don Bosco’s philosophy of reason, faith, and loving kindness, every member of the Salesian Institute Youth Projects gives their skills, their time, and their heart to the young people in our care.
